A diverse selection of finalists, including British and Dutch designers, showcase the vibrant talent in the fashion world as the prestigious LVMH Prize prepares for its reveal in September.
The finalists for the prestigious annual LVMH Prize have been announced, showcasing a diverse group of emerging talent in the fashion industry. The LVMH Prize, known for launching the careers of renowned designers such as Jacquemus, Marine Serre, Thebe Magugu, and Grace Wales Bonner, honors innovative fashion creators. Last year, the primary prize was awarded to Swedish designer Ellen Hodakova Larsson, while Duran Lantink secured the second prize in 2024.
For the 2025 award, a selection of international contenders includes British designers Steve O Smith, Tolu Coker, and Torishéju, alongside Japanese designer Soshi Otsuki, who was previously nominated in 2016. Italian designer Francesco Murano is also in the mix, as well as several Paris-based brands: Alain Paul, All-in by Benjamin Barron, and Bror August Vestbø.
Among the finalists are two Dutch designers, Danial Aitouganov and Imruh Asha, who represent the vibrant label Zomer, founded to add a distinct colorful flair to the Paris fashion scene. Aitouganov, who has a background from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and eight years of experience at prestigious houses like Louis Vuitton under Pharrell Williams, Chloé, and Burberry, decided to leave his position at Louis Vuitton last summer to focus entirely on Zomer.
Zomer, which is officially listed on the Paris show calendar, has previously presented shows that have captured attention with their playful, colorful, and sculptural designs. The recent winter collection was themed ‘backwards,’ featuring a show that intriguingly began with the finale, presenting garments worn in reverse. Additionally, the collection included exaggerated silhouettes inspired by lampshades, drawing comparisons to the whimsical and grotesque aesthetics of designers like Viktor & Rolf.
The final results of the LVMH Prize will be revealed in September, with hopes that Zomer might follow in the footsteps of Duran Lantink by achieving a noteworthy placement. The prize carries a significant cash award and plays a crucial role in elevating the visibility of the awarded brand on the global fashion stage.
