The Michael O. Leavitt Center for Politics and Public Service will hold a charity thrift store on April 4, supporting local homelessness efforts through student-donated items.

Southern Utah University’s Michael O. Leavitt Center for Politics and Public Service is set to host a charity thrift store on Friday, April 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This one-day event aims to provide students with an opportunity to enhance their wardrobes while contributing to a local cause.

The pop-up thrift store’s inventory will be entirely sourced from student donations, with collection days slated for March 31 through April 3. During this period, students can drop off clothing items and enter a raffle for a chance to win various prizes, including SUU merchandise and gift cards.

Kylei Lueck, the Director’s Assistant at the Leavitt Center, expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting, “I’m excited because a lot of people showed up for the last one, so I hope that they show up to this one.” She emphasized the event’s significance, stating, “People get to be a part of something cool and then they know that they made a difference in doing something.”

All proceeds from the thrift store will benefit the Iron County Care and Share Shelter. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing vital resources and support to individuals and families facing homelessness within the community.
